When Impossible Bucket Lists Become Real

Toward the end of every calendar year, the media comes out with a variety of “Best of” and “Top 10” lists that bring favorite moments, people, and themes from that particular year together. Perhaps this was where bucket lists were born.

We all have things in life we want to accomplish: maybe we hope to graduate from college, find a spouse, buy a house, raise a family…but what about those dreams we have that we keep inside of us, hoping to check off “someday”? For me it’s hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and traveling to India.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go forward and make your dreams come true.” Without risking something, our bucket lists will never happen.

As part of a Canon marketing campaign, Nik Wallenda, famously fearless tightrope walker and the only man to ever cross Niagara Falls, sits down with senior citizens who share their secret bucket list desires with him and he helps make their dreams a reality. The results are inspiring.

What about you? What’s on your bucket list? What’s keeping you from completing it?
